RTM Penang Drops VHF For UHF

Penang -- Reception of national radio and television broadcasts in the state of Penang have not been the best. (Logo - left Mutiara FM, RTM's service to Perak and Penang).

The admission came from the Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid at state broadcaster, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM).

So RTM is doing something about it with funds from the 9th Economic Plan.

From early next year the television frequencies will change from VHF to UHF when work on upgrading the Bukit Penara transmission site is complete.

FM Radio will also see improvements with radio data systems being introduced.

I just hope the supply of enough consumer UHF antennas is in hand.
