"Larger Than Life" TV Facility Chooses Digital Vision

In Philippine news, the "Larger Than Life" located in Makati a visual effects, design, animation and editorial studio for film, High Definition TV and new media has recently installed a Nucoda Film Master from Digital Vision.

The installation was carried out by Digital Vision’s Asian partner "Media Village".

The Nucoda is a complete resolution-independent, end-to-end film finishing solution.

The production studio animation colourists are using the Nucoda Film Master in tandem with its Laser Graphics Director 2k film scanner for film originated projects and its Sony HD 4:4:4 deck and new Panasonic P2 HD formats for HD originated projects.

Marcus Ng, "Larger than Life" CEO explained: ”We are currently doing an effects heavy 60-episode TV series produced by Reality Films and award winning director Erik Matti. This project was commissioned for ABS-CBN. Larger Than Life is handling post, visual effects, vfx supervision, mastering and grading. The series is shot using Panasonic’s P2 technology. The Nucoda Film Master will mainly be used as Larger Than Life’s grading and DI hub for TV commercials, TV series and feature film work.

”We have a mixed format facility, ingesting 35mm, HD, DVCproHD and P2. We call ourselves a pseudo-DI facility, as we don’t just handle film but also tapeless P2 HD technology. Our facility utilises a central Bright 4 gig fibre channel storage network that integrates post, effects and CG. We can ingest and output on either film, SD (standard definition) (NTSC/PAL) or HD (1080/720 line).

”We designed the facility with data in mind. We are currently the only facility in Manila with an end-to-end data-centric environment. We chose Nucoda Film Master because of its ease of integration with existing off the shelf components and also on-proprietary machines. The system is truly a future proof investment. Ng added, ”Larger Than Life is at the forefront of creative driven technology and with Digital Vision we have become a benchmark when it comes to DI in Manila and also in terms of speed, quality and flexibility. The Nucoda Film Master has opened a lot of opportunities for us in post and visual effects.”
