Media Prima Key Media For Merdeka's 50th

Media Prima Group Berhad (KLSE.4501) are the first media group in Malaysia to start year-long 50th Anniversary Merdeka (Freedom) celebrations for Malaysia's half century as an independent country in 2007.

The 49th anniversary will be on National Day, August 31, 2006.

In the presence of Malaysia Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Finance Ministry in Kuala Lumpur, Media Prima group MD and CEO, Abdul Rahman Ahmad launched the year long campaign, themed ‘Embracing Malaysia, Embracing the World’.

He said all media units of Media prima - its four TV networks (TV3, ntv7, 8TV and TV9), two radio networks (HotFM and FlyFm), and print media (The Malay Mail, Berita Harian, New Straits Times and Harian Metro), will be used to convey the message of pride in Malaysia.

The Prime Minister thanked Media Prima for being the first from the private sector to initiate efforts in nurturing national pride.

The launch event unveiled a special related logo.

Prima Television Networks group CEO Datuk Farid Ridzuan, NSTP group editor-in-chief Datuk Hishamuddin Aun, ntv7 CEO Amrin Awaluddin and 8TV CEO Ahmad Izham Omar were all in attendance.
