HIV/AIDS TV Asia Awarded Asia Broadcasters $5,000 for Campaign Awarenesss

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) Regional HIV and Development Program for Asia based in Colombo under the 'Broadcast Content Development Initiative’ 2006 has awarded up to US$ 5,000 in grants and technical support to produce high quality documentaries, vignettes and Public Service Announcements.

The recipients are producers from Radio Television of Afghanistan, Bangladesh Television, China Central Television, Asia Television Limited, Radio Television Hong Kong, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Doordarshan, Prasar Bharati, Indosiar Visual Mandiri, Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad, Nepal Television, Media Niugini Ptd. Ltd (EMTV), Geo Television (Independent Media Corporation Pvt Ltd), ABS-CBN Broadcasting Network, Television of Thailand Channel 11 and Vietnam Television.

The project is designed to increase public awareness and generate informed debates on critical issues related to HIV/AIDS and human development in the Asia-Pacific region and to build the capacity and commitment of television producers on HIV/AIDS and related issues.
