Digital Broadcasters | Siemens at IBC 2006

Siemens new Digital TV and Gigaset Products at IBC 2006 Amsterdam Sept 8-12

Digital vendor, Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices will be showcasing their home media portfolio including set-top boxes (STB) for digital TV (DVB-S, DVB-C and DVB-T), IPTV and HDTV as well as integrated solutions for triple play services.

In addition to digital TV, [Gigaset] products enable the easy, convenient use of integrated services, which bundle Voice over IP Telephony, Internet access as well as TV and video offerings over a broadband connection.

For the reception of digital TV via Internet (IPTV), Siemens presents a viable solution for the future with the Gigaset HD860 IP: The IPTV set-top box allows not only extensive applications like video on demand, time-shift TV or Internet surfing, but also supports high definition television (HDTV). Gateways such as the Gigaset SX551 are complete home networking solutions and can connect to TV set-top boxes, VoIP-Telephony, and PCs via cable or WLAN. The triple play scenario is complete with the hybrid telephone Gigaset C450 IP for fixed network and VoIP Telephony.

"The range of digital television and of integrated services is constantly growing. That means extensive, but also more individual and custom-made entertainment and communications for customers at home," explained Harald Sendlinger, Head of Product Management for Home Media Division at Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices.

The DVB devices relate to whether reception is by terrestrial digital broadcast (DVB-T), Cable TV (DVB-C), and digital satellite broadcast (DVB-S).

Those are the Siemens product lines to be seen at IBC 2006.
