It looks like the Italian lobby in Canberra will get an ethnic Italian language radio licence for Australia's capital, under the "narrowcasting" rules of the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
Rete Italia (owned by Tatley Pty Ltd) made a licence submission on the proviso that the ACMA would make a frequency available.
The ACMA is making available 1323 kHz for the service. Officially the ACMA says it will auction the AM licence later this year.
Rete Italia programming outlets are already serving Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Mildura, Swan Hill, Shepparton, Gosford, Wollongong, Ingham and Atherton.
