Tokyo TV Tower site chosen, the world's tallest tower-to-be

Tokyo -- A recent report in the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper said that the choice of site for the world's tallest structure-to-be, the new Tokyo TV Tower is near finalisation.

The chosen site is said to be in the Sumida district of the city.

NHK and the five main commercial digital broadcasters in the city all have a say.

The tower is scheduled for completion in 2011.

The world's current tallest structure -- the CN Tower in Toronto at 1,815ft will lose out the title to the Tokyo tower which is set to be 1,980ft.
