Beijing -- Under the PRC's 11th Five-year Economic Plan, 2006-2010, the government is to prioritize the need to bring state-run radio and TV to some 60 million families still without good terrestrial coverage. This represnts the 5 per cent of the population not yet covered.
In 2005, China invested 800 million yuan (US$99 million) to bring TV service to 86,000 villages in underdeveloped regions.
Labelled the "Cuncuntong Project" as many as 42 million people in more than 300,000 villages, mainly in Western provinces are expected to benefit this year.
