Guangzhou Microwave migrates from analog to digital broadcasting using TANDBERG

Guangzhou -- Guangzhou Microwave, one of the largest broadcast network operators in China chose TANDBERG Television (TAT.OL) as one of its key suppliers in the switch from analog to digital broadcasting.

TANDBERG will supply MPEG-2 technology including a network management system and bit-rate standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) encoders and professional receivers.

The complete system features TANDBERG equipment located at 13 stations and can be centrally monitored and controlled by the TANDBERG nCompass network management system. The total solution enables Guangzhou Microwave to smoothly transition its broadcast microwave network from analog to digital.

Guangzhou Microwave provides digital TV broadcast services to the households in the rural area surrounding Guangzhou, as well as terrestrial multimedia services to home subscribers and automobile users. The network will support the exchange of both SD and HD programming between urban Guangzhou and remote suburban counties.
